Many pharmacological methods have been devised to reduce the extent of hemodynamic events including high dose of opioids local anesthetics like lignocaine, alpha and beta adrenergic blockers and calcium channel blockers1 vasodilatation drugs like nitro glycerine.8 Topical anesthesia with lignocaine applied to the larynx and trachea in a variety of ways remains a popular method used alone or in combination with other techniques. Intravenous MgSO4 is a popular method of blunting this response, because of its ability to depress sympathoadrenal response and catacholamine release. Hence the present study was undertaken to compare the effect of Intravenous MgSO4 and intravenous normal saline as a placebo on blunting the haemodynamic responses to endotracheal intubation.

A Comparative Study between Intra Venous Dexmedetomidine and Magnesium Sulfate in Attenuation of Cardiovascular Response to Laryngoscopy and Endotracheal Intubation – a Randomized Clinical Trial
Background and objective: The inappropriate response of hemodynamic parameters to endotracheal intubation (ETI) can increase perioperative and postoperative morbidity and mortality. Various pharmacological methods have been aimed to suppress this pressor response but the search for the ideal drug for attenuation of cardiovascular response during laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation continues. D...

Background: Tracheal intubation and direct laryngoscopy are powerful noxious stimuli that can elicit sever hemodynamic responses. These hemodynamic responses should be attenuated by appropriate use of premedication, smooth induction of anesthesia and rapid tracheal intubation. Gabapentin and pregabalin have been suggested in several studies to be efficient. Gabapentin is an antiepileptic drug a...

Introduction: General anesthesia is the most common technique for performance of various surgical procedures. Thiopental is the most common anesthetic agent for intravenous induction. Since the introduction of propofol as an anesthetic agent, its use has increased progressively and has become the drug of choice for induction of anesthesia in several conditions. The aims of this study were com...
متن کاملDifferent small-dose sufentanil blunting cardiovascular responses to laryngoscopy and intubation in children: a randomized, double-blind comparison.
BACKGROUND Sufentanil is a potent opioid analgesic frequently used in clinical anaesthesia. This prospective, randomized, double-blind study was designed to assess the efficacy of different small-dose sufentanil attenuating the cardiovascular intubation response in healthy children, aiming at determining the optimal dose of sufentanil for this purpose. METHODS A total of 165 children aged 3-9...
